A Family Affair

On Saturday night, my family and I cooked dinner together.

Though, on second thought, I should revise that statement:

Last night, my family, minus my sister (missed her terribly), grilled dinner together.

There. I’m all about accuracy.

My parents and I set about on a great adventure that came [read more ...]

The Good, The Bad, and The Salty

For months, I’d been hearing how wonderful the local restaurant Papa Gallo is. Oddly enough, no one really gave me specifics, just gushed over how “amazing” and “good” and “delicious” it is. Admittedly, I was intrigued.

I have already, however, given my heart to another Mexican restaurant in town – The [read more ...]

Milk and Cookies, All Grown Up

I’m very selective about what cookies I eat.
Oatmeal doesn’t set my heart pounding, nor does a simple sugar, or, as a general rule, chocolate chip.

Nevermind the fact that it was only mid-afternoon; my mind was clearly wandering to places other than an afternoon snack. The logical course of action would have been to join my parents in the pizza they planned on ordering that evening.

The Garlicky Bitch

I traveled to Malone, New York for a family wedding this weekend. In addition to the buffalo chicken cheese dip (perhaps that adventure alone warrants a separate blog post) and marbled wedding cake, my relatives and I enjoyed a late-night dinner at Villa Fiore, a local Italian restaurant.
The lights were dim, the waitstaff sleepy-eyed, and [read more ...]

Pancakes, Flapjacks, Hotcakes ..

I have had four major, life-altering experiences with pancakes.
I’m serious.
Like most aspects of my culinary perspective, pancakes have gone through a stunning evolution since my first important flapjack run-in. These four stories are worth a look, so grab some syrup and cuddle in with me.

A Day of Excess

I hauled my bum back to work today; after a three day mini-vacation, I wasn’t entirely prepared to hop back into paperwork. (Yes, I hauled, then hopped. My verbs are anything but boring).
After a long day of processing invoices, and entering purchasing data into the computer (I still can’t get over the fact that, in [read more ...]
